From: Ohio Fire Academy, Registrar
Subject: Course Certificates
In our efforts to reduce cost, the Ohio Fire Academy is
pleased to announce that course certificates can now be printed from our
website,
www.ohiofireacademy.com
. Effective immediately the Academy
will no longer print course certificates and mail them out to the
individuals or the host agencies. After a Direct Delivery Instructor
completes a class and returns the appropriate paperwork, (which includes
the student registration form) to the Academy for processing and after
the Academy has processed the paperwork, students will be able to go
on-line and print a certificate of completion for that course. Each
student will be responsible to print their own certificate. Students can
go to;
www.ohiofireacademy.com and click on
“Course
Offering/Schedule On-Line Student Application”.
Once the next page comes up, click on “My Profile”. Complete the
“Student Authentication” and login. Click on “Print Certificate” on the
left hand side next to the course you want to print a certificate for.
If you don’t know your ID # and Password, click on
“Create Account/Forgot
Password”. Fill out the six questions,
click the “agreement box” and “submit” and it will send your ID # &
Password directly to your email address within minutes. Once you have an
ID # and Password, complete the process as outlined above. Be sure to
follow the email as it spells out how to log in; your password is case
sensitive (caps lock-on) and distinguish between the letter O and the
number 0 (zero). A helpful hint would be to have the students change
their password to something that’s easier to remember and not
necessarily case sensitive. To print certificates, follow the
instructions as outlined above.
Please make the students aware of this change when
filling out the registration form.
Thank you,
Ken Thompson, Registrar

remove all batteries from your radiation detection equipment when
the equipment is not in use.
- VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER CERTIFICATION
REQUIREMENTS - The 18 hours per year Continuing Education requirements
are in effect for all Ohio firefighters starting in April 2008. The
state will be auditing 10% of all training records throughout the
state on a random basis.
- JCERT MEMBERS -
Anyone whom has just joined the team or anyone
who would like to join the team needs to fill out a member information
sheet. Also, it is very important that all members re-certify each
year. Everyone should try to refresh with the whole team, as this
gives the team practice of working together. Any member whom allows
their certification to expire will be placed on inactive status until
they obtain certification. Any team member who has obtained NIMS
classes (ICS 100, 200, 300, 400 and/or NIMS 700 & 800) or any other
certifications, please get a copy of your certificates to Jeff Young
at Jackson FD.
- RADIO BATTERIES
- The Jackson County Health
Department is a collection point for the following types of
rechargeable batteries - Nickel Cadmium (NiCd), Nickel Metal Hydride
(Ni-MH), Lithium Ion (Li-ion) and Small Sealed Lead (Pb). Used cell
phones, with or without batteries are also accepted. The batteries and
phones are sent to the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation for
recycling. We Do Not Accept alkaline or lithium batteries, bag
or cordless phones. Please contact Gary Radabaugh at 286-5094, ext.
229 if you should have any questions.
- HAZMAT Team Patch - HAZMAT Team members can order the
patch shown below from David Channell or Jeff Young for $2.75 per
patch.
- Obtaining a DUNS Number - If your political subdivision
does not already have a DUNS number (Data Universal Number System),
you will need to obtain one in order to apply for any federal grant.
To obtain a DUNS number in about 10 minutes, call 1-866-705-5711.
Be prepared to answer the following questions: name of business,
business address, phone number, name of the CEO/business owner, legal
structure of the business (corporation, partnership, proprietorship),
year business started, primary line of business, total number of
employees (full and part time). You can also obtain a DUNS
number on-line at the Dun and Bradstreet website, which may take up to
14 business days.
