  • Hazmat Training at Porter Township Fire Dept. (Wheelersburg, Scioto County):

        Technician Refresher - March 6th, 2010 at 0800.

        Operations  Refresher - March 7th, 2010 at 0800.

        Confined Space Rescue Refresher - March 13th, 2010 at 0800.

 

  • National Weather Service - Storm Survey Class - Wednesday, March 10th, 2010 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Jackson Fire Department - DC Annex located at 152 Pearl St., Jackson, Ohio. This course discusses damage assessment and is a pre-requisite for those wishing to be involved with the county's damage assessment team. Previous attendance at a Basic/Advanced Weather Spotters class is suggested, but not mandatory. Target audience is CERT, ARES, amateur radio, Red Cross and fire service. THIS COURSE IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

 

 

 

  • CERT Training in Gallia County - Friday, March 12th from 5:30pm to 9:00pm; Saturday, March 13th from 8:00 am to 5:00pm and Sunday, March 14th from 12:00 pm to 5:00pm. Location for the training will be the Gallia County 911 Center. Students MUST attend all three days of this course. Please contact Patrick "Boats" West at the Jackson County Health Department at 286-5094 or the Gallia County EMA for more details.   • Responding to Railcar Emergency Incidents - March 16th, 2010 at 7:00 PM at Albany Fire Dept. Instructor will be Michael East of Northfork Southern Railroad. Class sponsored by the Athens County Firefighters Association and Athens County EMA. Please RSVP to albanyfd@verizon.net by March 10th, 1020.

  • WATER SEARCH & RESCUE AWARENESS LEVEL COURSE - Now available online at www.onlinefireschoolbgsu.com  This course was developed by the State of Ohio Water TAC and Bowling Green State University.

Did you know that we have taken the weekly issues and compiled them into Volumes and offer each Volume as a stand-alone course? There are currently 10 Volumes of Coffee Break Training available for self study through NFA Online!
     
    Added Benefit! Need Continuing Education Units (CEUs)? Successful completion of any NFA Online course will earn you CEUs ranging from 0.1 CEU to 1.5 CEUs. The NFA works with the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) to provide the CEUs.

  • New Web Address For FEMA Self Study Courses - FEMA has a new web address for their independent study courses.  It is www.learningservices.us/FEMA/LMS.  There are a variety of courses available including hazardous materials, National Incident Management System (NIMS), incident command, and disaster exercises. 

 

  • Jackson County EMA, LEPC and the Jackson County Emergency Response (HAZMAT) Team- These organizations have many hazardous materials, confined space rescue, incident management, instructions on equipment usage, etc. DVDs, videotapes or CDs from Emergency Film Group, Ohio EMA, the State Fire Marshal's Office and others.
